Course Equivalency Matrix

Course Equivalency Matrix: Your Off-Campus Academic Planning Tool

Planning to study off campus? Whether through a Skidmore Program or an Approved Program, the Course Equivalency Matrix is your go-to resource.
This online tool helps you:

  • Browse pre-approved courses that have previously been offered by Skidmore and approved programs

  • Check how classes align with Skidmore equivalents and departmental requirements

  • Make informed decisions about your academic path while abroad

Faculty and staff also use the Matrix to advise students on course approvals and credit transfer for off-campus study.

Log in to the Matrix: https://app.skidmore.edu/ocse/
Use your Skidmore credentials (just your ID — no "@skidmore.edu").
Once logged in, click the greeting in the top right corner (“Hello, [Your Name]”) to get started.

Here’s how to explore your options:

  • To view all pre-approved courses in your major or minor, click “Course Equivalency Matrix” and sort by department.
  • To explore classes in a specific off-campus program, click “Approved Courses” and select your desired program.

Once you've started your OCSE application, you will use this same tool to have your courses pre-approved. Please do not start a course form until you've declared your major AND started an OCSE application. If you start the form prior to this, we will delete it.

Keep in mind that this tool is NOT a current list of courses offered but instead a database of prior approvals. You should always consult your program to see what will be offered each semester. If the course you want to take is not listed, you will just need to have it reviewed on your proposed course of study form.

You can find detailed instructions on how to complete the online course form here: https://www.skidmore.edu/ocse/apply/Course_Approval_Form_Online_Process.pdf
